Arcane
This was a project for an assignment for my Fashion Styling subject for Collarts as a first-year student. This assignment involved styling and photographing garments for a hypothetical e-commerce denim store. My mock website was called “Arcane” a Naarm-based cyberpunk-esque label that focuses on transforming deadstock and preloved denim.
This project allowed my love for styling to thrive. Photography and styling (inside and outside the realm of fashion) are personal hobbies of mine and I find joy in both. As I was exposed to the world of industry-related fashion styling for the first time I was taught the skills required to successfully organise and execute an industry-related styling project for photoshoots.
The inspiration for Arcane was rooted by the concept of escapism, allowing the wearer to enter into a dystopian cyberpunk realm reflecting similar colour palettes, surfaces and scenes of an apocalyptic world. Arcane maximises fabric use creating little to no waste possible which is influenced by the maximalist resource mindset seen in dystopian societies.
